To mark the occasion of International Yoga Day, the staff and students of Lords International Residential School Udupi assembled on 21st June 2025 to celebrate the significance of yoga. Observed every year on this date, Yoga Day serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle through the union of body, mind, and spirit.
The celebration commenced promptly at 10:00 am. in the school campus with a soulful prayer, setting a peaceful and focused tone for the day’s event. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Mr. Shripad, who acknowledged the presence of all dignitaries and participants. Ms. Usha, a senior staff member, extended a floral welcome to the chief guest of the day, Mr. Shripathi Bhat, an ex-employee of Dena Bank and a certified yoga instructor trained under Baba Ramdev.
The session continued with a thought-provoking address by Mr. Kiran, a faculty member on importance of the day. He explained the importance of yoga in modern life, emphasizing that: “Yoga is not just a practice, it brings holistic development”. He elaborated on how yoga helps in instilling discipline, enhancing inner strength, and promoting mental and physical well-being.
The highlight of the event was a live demonstration by Mr. Shripathi Bhat, who showcased several yoga asanas, including the challenging Shirshasana, Mayurasana and Bakasana. He explained the health benefits of each posture and guided the students through the correct breathing techniques. He stated that “yoga brings discipline”. The session was both educational and engaging. The programme was conducted by Ms Florine.
